The short version: we don't follow you around the web. We just count visits.
Zero cookies on this page. No tracking cookies, no functional cookies, nothing. No Meta pixel, no Google Analytics, no ad-tech. We don't want your data — we want you on a bike.
Everything is built into this one page. Fonts, logo, code — all embedded. Your visit triggers no third-party requests. Everything is served from our own machine at Hetzner in Germany (EU). Like every web server, it briefly keeps technical logs (IP address, time, requested page) to serve the site securely — deleted automatically, used for nothing else.
We do count visits — with Umami, the only code not embedded in this page, running at stats.verticallodge.com on our own machine (Hetzner, Germany, EU). No cookies, nothing stored on your device, no IP address stored, no tracking across sites, nothing shared with third parties. It records the page (address and title), the site you came from, your language, browser, operating system, device type, screen size and rough location (country, region, city — from your IP address). A one-way code from your IP address and browser, new every month, recognises who comes back within the same month. Why: to know how many people visit and how they found us (legitimate interest).
If you join the notify list, we store exactly three things: your first name, your email address and the language you are reading this page in, so that the email arrives in that language. We use them for exactly one purpose — sending you one single email when we open. No newsletter, no marketing, never sold, never shared with third parties. After that one email (or anytime you ask), your data is deleted.
